For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
Philippians 2:13 (NLT)
God is working in us, transforming us from the inside out. As we put our faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit goes to work on the inside of us, producing in us the desire and the ability to live right. When we believe that Jesus has already made us righteous, the Holy Spirit will enable us to live and act in ways that correspond to what we believe.
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
Romans 8:16 (NKJV)
The Holy Spirit is continually whispering into our hearts that we are children of God, that we have His favor and blessing. The more we listen to the Holy Spirit who speaks to us through the Word of God, the less receptive will we be to the voices of fear, doubt, confusion or condemnation. Let us spend some time every day with the Holy Spirit as He guides us into all truth.
By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
Romans 1:5 (KJV)
Obedience in the new covenant is obedience to the faith. Rather than trying to live by the law, our obedience is our commitment to right believing. We are obedient when we believe what God says about us which enables the Holy Spirit to work on the inside of us, shaping us more fully into who God has called us to be.
