According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Ephesians 1:4 (KJV)
In Christ we are holy and blameless before the Father in love, not because of our actions or performance, but as a result of having been made the sons and daughters of God. Now it is God’s love that compels us and enables us to live right. Chains are broken and darkness loses its grip over us, as guilt and condemnation are replaced with the goodness and mercy of God.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 12:28 (KJV)
Jesus gives us rest because when we enter into Christ, we enter into a finished work. The moment we put our faith in Jesus as Lord of our lives, all things pertaining to life and godliness are made available to us. Our task is not to struggle and to work hard to try and get God to bless us, but to live each day open and receptive for the blessings we already have in Him to manifest in our lives.
And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Hebrews 6:15 (KJV)
To endure patiently means we keep our faith on the field—no matter what. We continue to believe that we have received, and we keep acting in faith. When we purpose in our hearts that we will believe God regardless of what it looks or feels like, we will come to see the manifestation of what grace has already made available.
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)
The more we behold Jesus through the Word, the more are we transformed into His image. As we seek His will in all of the areas of our life, we will find ourselves being led from glory to glory through the wisdom and counsel of the Holy Spirit.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
We overcome fear as we remember that it is the Spirit of God in us that gives us strength, wisdom, courage and ability. As we rely upon God, knowing He has planted in us His power, His love, and His soundness, we may go forth into our world with boldness and confidence. No longer are we held hostage by fear, but we are equipped and empowered to show up as the victorious overcomers we have been created to be.
Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.
Proverbs 4:23 (AMP)
Guarding the heart means we do not allow anything to rob us of the peace that has come to us as a result of our meditating on and believing the promises of Scripture. We determine to keep our hearts fixed on Jesus and on what His Word declares about us no matter what.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
Psalm 27:13 (KJV)
We receive strength through believing that we will see the goodness of God in our lives. When we live each day in an earnest and confident expectation of good, we position ourselves to receive the blessings that God has already prepared for us.
