O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Psalm 34:8 (KJV)
We taste and come to know the goodness of God through our intimate fellowship with Him. The more time we spend in His presence through worship, prayer, praise and His Word, the more do we find that we can trust God with all of the areas of our lives. And out from this trust is birthed a life that leads from victory to victory.
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 1:13 (ESV)
To be sober-minded is to be filled with what the Word declares over us. It is to keep our minds actively focused on the truth of God’s Word, and to be actively on guard against the lies and deceptions of the enemy that would seek to invade our thinking. Our confident expectation is set fully upon what the grace of God has made available to us in Christ Jesus.
Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Psalm 25:4-5 (KJV)
We open ourselves to wisdom from above when we make it our practice to pause and seek the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit in all things. When we no longer insist on our own ways, but instead listen for the still small voice, He will take us to places of breakthrough we could have never reached on our own.
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Luke 12:32 (KJV)
God is not reluctant when it comes to supplying our needs. In fact, it is His good pleasure to give us His kingdom. And so when we approach our heavenly Father, let us do so with boldness and confidence. Rather than being fearful, let us rejoice in faith; we may be certain that we will see God showing up mightily in our lives.
The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
John 10:10 (AMP)
Jesus has come to give us the more abundant life. This is life to the full, till it overflows. It is God’s will for us to see an overflow of His goodness and glory in the various areas of our life. The key to breakthrough is to not let circumstances move us off track, but to keep our attention and our focus on Jesus. We will surely see His promises come to pass in our lives.
And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Hebrews 6:15 (KJV)
To endure patiently means we keep our faith on the field—no matter what. We continue to believe that we have received, and we keep acting in faith. When we purpose in our hearts that we will believe God regardless of what it looks or feels like, we will come to see the manifestation of what grace has already made available.
