And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
Psalm 107:7 (KJV)
God will always lead us by the right way. When we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, He will lead us in the way of God’s perfect will for our lives. Our role is to trust Him and to follow His promptings. And the will of God for us is to see His goodness and favor coming to pass.
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Romans 5:17 (KJV)
Righteousness is a gift we receive, not a reward we work for. When we receive this unspeakable gift through our faith in the finished works of Jesus, we enter into the abundance of God’s grace—His unmerited favor. His grace being abundant means it is sufficient to wipe out all of our past mistakes, and to supply us with everything that is needed in order for us to live a successful and overcoming life.
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
Acts 3:26 (KJV)
God has sent Jesus into the world to bless us. To be blessed means to be empowered to prosper. And so all of us who have received Jesus have received the blessing, and as a result of being in Christ we are now set up to overcome and have victory in every arena of life. The blessing is a gift of God’s grace, and it starts working in our life as we receive it and walk in it by faith.
Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
Romans 2:4 (KJV)
Understanding the goodness of God is what produces repentance, which is simply a change of mind and heart. When we receive His gift of no condemnation, God can effectively work in us leading us to live a life of freedom from bondage to sin.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13 (KJV)
The greatest expression of God’s love is found in Jesus laying down His life for us. When this kind of love is received into the heart, it creates radical transformation from the inside out. No one can have a heart to heart encounter with the love of God in Christ Jesus and remain the same.
And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
Isaiah 58:11 (KJV)
There is a continual wellspring of life available as we keep our eyes on Jesus, realizing that He alone is our strength, our source, our comforter, and our provider. When we daily fellowship with God and let His Word fill our hearts, we will find ourselves equipped to not only handle all that we are called to do, but we also become a spring of life through which the light of Christ can flow into our world.
which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;
Colossians 1:6 (NKJV)
The grace of God in truth is Jesus. We can never separate Jesus and grace. Our hearts are transformed as we look to Jesus and believe that as a result of His finished works we have been made one hundred percent righteous. Everything for us in this new covenant begins and ends with Jesus.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, he taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1 Corinthians 3:19 (KJV)
Let us place our faith only in the power of God, and not in what we might consider the wisdom of this world. Worldly wisdom will oftentimes try and get us to doubt the promises of God, yet we are called to realize that no amount of worldly limitation can prevent us from receiving what God has already promised us in His Word.
